6th Grade @ PES
"We Rule the School"!
Sixth Grade News:
Fall is here......

The sixth grade social studies class has finished a unit on the United States Constitution. We learned about the Three Branches of Government, Checks and Balances, and Separation of Powers. We also learned how a Bill becomes a law, and put many of our own bills through the legislative process.
The fifth grade social studies class just finished a unit on various mapping skills. We are now studying Western Movement and are getting set to travel on the Oregon Trail in our Wagon Train families!!
5/6 grades students for Hewes and Harrington must read 30 minutes each night before bed. Book jackets are due the last day of each month. Except for Halloween, this is dress up as a your favorite scary book character.
There is math homework every night except during NECAP testing.
Please send your parent conference slip in as soon as possible.
Please remind your child to work hard every day in school and use their manners throughout their day, in public and at home.
In reading both classes have been studying our genre of the month, 'adventure'. Everyone has completed their first book jackets.
For October we are getting into the season
by studying Scary Stories and Science Fiction. On October 31st we will have
our annual "Celebration of Literature" where we all dress up as our favorite
book character.
Vermont History Day is scheduled for Saturday, March 31st at Spaulding High
School in Barre, VT. We have several students that are planning on entering.
The winners travel to the University of Maryland in June for National
History Day. PES has had winners n the state competiiton for over 10
straight years.
Our Bottle Drive will be on the 19th of November at 9:00 - 1:00.
